Privacy Policy
Last updated: 7 November 2026 · Effective: 7 November 2026 · Applies to the REZOLQ app for iOS and Android and to this website.
In short: REZOLQ does not ask you to create an account and does not collect personal information. The app uses Bluetooth to detect beacons placed in the venue and to estimate your position in the crowd. That processing happens on your phone. We do not use advertising or third-party analytics SDKs, and we do not sell data.
1. Who we are
The REZOLQ app and this website are operated by Pascal Daniel Mence, a private individual based in Oslo, Norway ("we", "us"). REZOLQ is not yet a registered company, so there is no organisation number. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

2. What the app does
REZOLQ turns the phones of an audience into a synchronised light display during an event. To show the right colour on your screen at the right moment, the app needs to know roughly where you are standing in the venue. It does this by listening to Bluetooth Low Energy beacons installed by the event organiser.
3. Data we process
| Data | Why | Where it is processed | Kept |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bluetooth signals from the venue's beacons (beacon name, signal strength, beacon-to-beacon distances) | To estimate your phone's position in the crowd so the correct pixel is shown | On your phone only | Not stored; discarded when the effect ends |
| Your estimated position (a grid coordinate, not a GPS location) | To assign your screen a pixel of the picture | On your phone only — never transmitted | Not stored; discarded when the effect ends |
| Effect cues received from the show controller | To change your screen colour in sync with the show | Received by your phone over the internet or local network | Not stored |
| Connection data (IP address, time of connection) when your phone receives effect cues | To deliver the cues to your phone | Our cue server. The hosting provider will be named here before the app is released. | Server logs deleted after 30 days |
| Visits to this website: IP address, time, page requested, browser type | To deliver the website and protect it against abuse | GitHub Pages, operated by GitHub, Inc. (United States). GitHub logs the IP address of every visitor for security purposes. | As set out in the GitHub Privacy Statement |
| Basic technical data (app version, operating system, crash reports) | To keep the app working and fix bugs | Apple / Google platform crash reporting, only if you have enabled sharing with app developers in your device settings | As provided by Apple / Google |
We do not collect your name, e-mail address, phone number, contacts, photos, precise GPS location, microphone or camera data, advertising identifiers, or any payment information.
Is providing data required? No. You never have to give us personal information to use REZOLQ. Granting Bluetooth access is voluntary; without it the app cannot place you in the crowd and only shows a solid colour.
4. Permissions the app asks for
- Bluetooth (iOS: "Bluetooth"; Android: "Nearby devices") — required to detect the venue's beacons. The app cannot position you without it. REZOLQ beacons use standard Bluetooth Low Energy advertising, so on iPhone the app does not ask for Location access. You can revoke it at any time in your phone's settings; the app will then only show a solid colour.
- Location (Android only, older versions) — on some Android versions the system requires location permission to scan for Bluetooth beacons. REZOLQ does not read or store your GPS position.
- Network — to receive effect cues during a show.
5. Legal basis (EU/EEA users)
Where the GDPR applies, we process the technical data above on the basis of our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): running the light show you have chosen to take part in, and keeping this website and the cue server secure and available. You can ask us for our assessment of these interests at any time. Bluetooth scanning only starts after you grant the permission on your device.
6. Sharing
We do not sell or rent data. We do not share data with advertisers or data brokers. Your position in the crowd never leaves your phone, so neither we nor the event organiser receive it. This website is hosted on GitHub Pages by GitHub, Inc. in the United States, which receives the IP address of every visitor. GitHub states in its Privacy Statement that it takes part in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and relies on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses (Decision 2021/914) for transfers from the EEA. The website loads no other third-party resources: fonts are hosted on rezolq.com itself, and there are no cookies, analytics or advertising tags. Apple and Google may process crash and diagnostic data under their own privacy policies if you have enabled that on your device.
7. Retention
Beacon signals and your estimated position exist only while an effect is running and are discarded afterwards. We keep no database of participants.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have the right to access, correct and delete your personal data, to restrict its processing, to receive it in a portable format (data portability), to object to processing based on our legitimate interests, and to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority where you live, work or where the issue happened (in Norway: Datatilsynet, datatilsynet.no). Because REZOLQ holds no personal data about you, there is usually nothing for us to retrieve or delete — but you can always write to pascal.mence@gmail.com and we will answer within 30 days.
9. Account deletion
REZOLQ has no accounts, so there is nothing to delete. Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored on your phone.
10. Children
The app is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children under 13 (or the age set by local law).
11. Security
Communication between the app and the show controller is encrypted in transit. Since no personal data is stored by us, there is no personal data at rest to protect on our side.
12. Changes to this policy
If the app starts processing new categories of data, we will update this page, change the date at the top, and update the privacy details shown on the App Store and Google Play before the change takes effect.
